Stuttgart have secured their first piece of major silverware in years after blitzing Arminia Bielefeld during a 4-2 win in the DFB Pokal final.
Scorers: Kania 82', Vagnoman (OG) 86'; Woltemade 15', Millot 22', 66', Undav 28'
After a 2024/25 Bundesliga season that saw the Swabian outfit finish outside the European places, major honours were still on the line in the capital against the 3.Liga champions, who nearly took an early lead.
Forward Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee missed a sitter inside six yards in the 12th minute when he struck the crossbar rather than slipping his effort into a gaping net, but from then on, Sebastian Hoeneß's troops put the minnows in their rear view.
Star striker Nick Woltemade converted with a cool finish three minutes later to open the scoring while opening the first-half floodgates, with Enzo Millot doubling the lead in the 22nd minute from close range.
German international striker Deniz Undav would make it 3-0 before the half-hour mark thanks to a lovely through ball from midfield maestro Angelo Stiller, putting the result beyond doubt before the half-time interval.
Millot would complete his brace on the night in the 66th minute when the Frenchman stripped Bielefeld of possession in their third of the pitch before driving at goal to dispatch a pin-point effort into the bottom corner to put an additional rubber stamp on proceedings.
But Bielefeld would battle back late to offer a good account of themselves on the night when they struck twice in four minutes through Julian Kania and an own goal by Josha Vagnoman.
Still, it would not be enough to stage an unexpected comeback, with Stuttgart ultimately holding on to lift their first Pokal trophy since 1996/97 while gaining passage into the Europa League next season.
