Joao Felix made an immediate impact after his January move from Chelsea to Milan, but outlets in Italy are beginning to suggest that the Portugal international is already in decline in San Siro, despite playing in just six matches under Sergio Conceicao.

Joao Felix joined Milan on loan from Chelsea on the final day of the January transfer window, in what was a chaotic end to the month for the Rossoneri, who also brought in Kyle Walker, Santiago Gimenez, Riccardo Sottil and Warren Bondo around the same time.

The 25-year-old made an immediate impression on the Rossoneri supporters, coming off the bench to score a delightful chip in his first appearance in a 3-1 victory over Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

However, he has failed to register a goal or an assists in the five matches since then, which has led outlets in Italy to suggest that he is up to his ‘usual’ tricks again in Milan.

Papers claim ‘It’s the usual Joao Felix’ at Milan

Joao Felix did the same at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign with Chelsea, scoring on his first Premier League appearance of the season off the bench in a 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, but failed to score again in the league until his move to Milan at the beginning of February.

Tuttosport claims that ‘It’s the usual Joao Felix’ in Milan, referring to a tendency of his to impress in his first few matches at a new club before going on to struggle for goals and assists.

Joao Felix has started in all five of the Rossoneri matches since his debut, which brought Serie A victories over Empoli and Hellas Verona, but a two-legged defeat to Feyenoord in the Champions League and the recent 2-1 defeat by Torino over the weekend.

Sergio Conceicao has put his faith in his compatriot, and reportedly was the one who pushed for his arrival in January, but with the likes of Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic being left out of the starting XI on occasion, there have been suggestions that the coach should consider doing the same with Joao Felix as well.
