Sunderland AFC club shop to return to The Bridges | OneFootball

A dedicated Sunderland AFC club shop is set to return to Sunderland city centre, with signage installed today on a unit at The Bridges. The store occupies the former Fashion Bible site opposite Next, with an opening date to follow.

The move comes after the Black Cats sealed a sensational return to Europe at the weekend. A dramatic 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday clinched seventh place in the Premier League and a Europa League spot next season, the club’s first European campaign in more than 50 years.

According to the North East Chamber of Commerce, qualifying for the Europa League brings new levels of exposure for the club, city and region. The chamber said the city could host at least eight extra fixtures, including four at home, drawing more local spend, and noted hotels reporting longer stays and businesses seeing spill-over spending as matchdays become full-day events. It added that the city will hope to build on this momentum.

In summer 2024, Sunderland unveiled a new store in Black Cat house. Previously, club shops also traded at The Galleries in Washington and at The Bridges.

The returning city-centre shop, in association with Fanatics, will create jobs. An assistant manager post is already advertised, with a start date of May / June this year.
