Sunderland and Manchester United played out a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light with neither side able to find a breakthrough.
Both of these teams had little to play for in this match with United having already secured a return to the Champions League while Sunderland sit midtable after a successful season back in the top flight.
That was evidenced by the fact Michael Carrick named a rotated side with the likes of Mason Mount, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Zirkzee all starting.
That rotation seemed to disrupt United's attack with Sunderland looking most likely to score throughout.
Indeed, it was mostly an uneventful game in the North East with Brian Brobbey having one of the better chances of the game with just over an hour gone that Senne Lammens was able to parry away.
Just a few minutes later, Lutsharel Geertruida saw his effort from the edge of the area bounce back off the post with United able to clear.
United had some momentum late on with Matheus Cunha getting booked for simulation as he tried to win a late penalty but ultimately it finished goalless in what was a game both sets of fans will quickly forget.
