In a recent post on X, Alfredo Pedulla stated that Sunderland are in the running for Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic. It has been revealed that the Black Cats would have to compete with Bournemouth in the race to sign the Bosnia international this off-season.

Muharemovic’s Solid Campaign In Serie A

Muharemovic enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 23-year-old made 33 appearances for Sassuolo last season, scoring two times and earning two assists in all competitions.

The Bosnian talent is currently among the most talented centre-backs in Serie A. Hence, Sunderland would do well to lure him to the Stadium of Light in this transfer window.

His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2031, which could make it difficult for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Snap Muharemovic Up This Summer?

Muharemovic is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.92, the Bosnian sensation can use his strong frame to win a few important aerial duels for his team. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to get him on board in this transfer period.

We can expect Muharemovic to bring more bite and steel to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ backline. He is capable of fighting for a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 23, Muharemovic has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Wearside club to pursue in this transfer window. Therefore, Le Bris would be wise to try everything in his power to snap him up this off-season, but only if he is available for a reasonable fee.
