Sunderland are still chasing a financial lift on the final day, with a home win over Chelsea next Sunday at the Stadium of Light potentially nudging them up the table and increasing their Premier League merit payment ahead of the summer window.

The Premier League said in a statement that its collective marketing of rights and distribution model aim to share income equitably, adding that in 2024/25 it committed more than £550m to the wider game.
