Sunderland are being linked with a midfield reshuffle, featuring interest in Celtic’s Arne Engels and fresh movement around Alan Browne’s future.

TuttoMercatoWeb claims Napoli have identified Engels as a possible replacement for André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and says Sunderland and Nottingham Forest have lodged enquiries. The report adds that any offer above £21.6 million could persuade Celtic to sell.

Earlier this week, Sky Sports suggested Sunderland were among several clubs monitoring the Belgian in Glasgow, with Forest and Premier League rivals Fulham also cited.

Meanwhile, The Northern Echo reports Middlesbrough are considering a permanent move for Sunderland loanee Browne to bolster a thin midfield group, and says they are expected to recruit at least two midfielders this summer.

Browne made 42 appearances last season during his loan on Teesside, where Boro lost the Championship play-off final to Hull City. Head coach Kim Hellberg will aim to go one step further next term.
