Sunderland are eyeing a late move for Arsenal starlet Charles Sagoe Jr this month.
That is according to a report from Football Transfers, which claims that negotiations between the two sides are ongoing ahead of the February 1st deadline.
Football Transfers claim that the Arsenal starlet has caught the eye of several clubs, with plenty showing interest this month.
However, they reveal that it is Sunderland who are the ones currently pressing ahead for his signature amid their hunt for a play-off spot in the Championship.
At present, the Black Cats sit seventh in the league standings, just one point behind Coventry City in sixth.
In interesting news, the report claims that they are eyeing a deal for Sagoe Jr as an alternative to Manchester United's Amad Diallo.
The Black Cats have been consistently linked with the Man Utd starlet this month, with reports as recent as today suggesting a deal could still be on the cards before the end of the window.
As mentioned above, Charles Sagoe Jr is a talented young player currently on the books at Arsenal, but this was not always the case.
Indeed, the 19-year-old joined the club from Fulham in 2015, at a very young age, and has not looked back since.
To date, the winger has made just one senior appearance for the Gunners.
This came in the EFL Cup earlier this season, with the 19-year-old starting in a 1-0 away win against Brentford in the third round.
Sagoe Jr has made the matchday squad on three other occasions, once in the Champions League, once in the Europa League and once in the Premier League.

Speaking after his appearance versus West Ham earlier this campaign, Arteta told the media, via Metro: "Obviously the context of the situation with a lot of injured players helped that possibility. But every time we can we have to look in our academy and give chances,"
"Chaz [Charles Sagoe Jr] was probably one of the most consistent players we’ve had in the under-23s for a few months.
"He’s been training with us quite a lot and it’s about giving opportunities to people and if we don’t give it today, when are we going to give opportunities to our youngsters?
"I’m really happy that he had a good experience."
In the same press conference, Arteta also outlined the type of player the club had on their hands.
"He’s a winger,"
"He plays off the right, off the left, he’s played as a nine as well this season quite a lot of minutes so he’s quite versatile in those positions.
"It’s great to have him around and see how he develops."
The player certainly sounds like a talent that is admired by Arteta.
