Sunderland were beaten 5-0 by Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light, but the fan response stood out.
As reported by Sunderland Echo, the turnout and reaction in the stands underlined the backing still behind the side. Forest seized control early and were 4-0 up by half-time, leaving the contest beyond reach.
