In a recent report on Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon stated that Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor is on the radar of West Ham United this summer. It is understood that the Hammers are hoping to sign the Haiti international from the Black Cats in this transfer period.

Isidor’s Important Role At Sunderland

Isidor was a crucial member of Sunderland’s squad in the previous campaign when he managed to catch the eye at times for them in the Premier League. The Haitian talent banged in six goals in 32 league matches for the Black Cats last season across various competitions.

The 25-year-old is currently one of the most talented centre-forwards in the Premier League. Thus, it is no surprise that he is gathering interest from West Ham this off-season.

His current contract at the Stadium of Light will expire in the summer of 2028, so the Black Cats are under no immediate pressure to cash in on him this summer.

Should Sunderland Head Coach Regis Le Bris Cut Isidor Loose This Summer?

Isidor is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for others around him and can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third.

The Haiti international is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. Standing at 1.84m, Isidor is a strong presence in the air as well. He is primarily a striker but can also operate as a winger on either flank if told to do so by his manager.

Isidor remains an important member of Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ match-day squad. Hence, the Black Cats should only consider cutting him loose if they receive a big offer for his services.

At 25, Isidor has his best years ahead of him and is good enough to fight for regular first-team football at the Stadium of Light in the coming years. Thus, Le Bris’ priority should be to retain his services beyond this summer. Another option for the Sunderland boss would be to cash in on Isidor and use the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement before the end of this transfer window.
