In an official statement this Tuesday, Sunderland provided an update on Habib Diarra.

Signed this summer for 36 million from Strasbourg to Sunderland, Habib Diarra was under the spotlight for his debut. The Senegalese midfielder had already been putting in quality performances. However, an injury disrupted the start of his season. Having missed the match against Aston Villa, the former Strasbourg captain is now set to miss the next two months of competition. This was confirmed by the English club on Tuesday.

"Sunderland AFC midfielder Habib Diarra underwent successful surgery on Monday. After sustaining a groin injury during training ahead of the Premier League match against Aston Villa, the 21-year-old will now begin his rehabilitation period at the Academy of Light. Diarra, who left RC Strasbourg in July to move to Wearside, is expected to return to action in December. We wish you a speedy recovery, Habib!" the statement read.
