Sunderland are reportedly in talks to sign Sporting CP right winger Geny Catamo.
The Mozambique international currently has three years remaining on his deal with the Portuguese side, a contract that also includes a €60 million (approx. £51.4 million) release clause.
According to journalist James Copley of the Sunderland Echo, talks are on-going for the 25-year-old with the Black Cats aiming for a transfer fee much lower than his current clause.
Catamo played his youth football in Mozambique before making the move to Portugal and initially joining fourth-tier Amora FC before he was signed by Sporting. The forward then came up the from U19 level to the Sporting first team, becoming an established regular after loan moves at Vitória SC and Marítimo.
Last season, Catamo played 47 times for his club in all competitions, scoring eight goals and making four assists.
