Sunderland are now pushing to secure a summer transfer deal for Club Brugge winger Chemsdine Talbi, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
They are in talks with their Belgian counterparts and could strike a deal close to €20 million for Talbi.
Sunderland are ready to offer the 20-year-old a five-year deal, and securing a personal agreement with him is unlikely to be tricky given his willingness to move to the Premier League.
Talbi notched seven goals and five assists in 44 appearances for the Jupiler Pro League team last term and helped them win the Belgian Cup.
His impressive dribbling, pinpoint crossing, and ability to win attacking duels are qualities manager Regis Le Bris needs as he prepares for life in the English top flight.
He produced man-of-the-match performances against Atalanta in both legs of their Champions League play-off earlier this year, and would fancy his chances of shining in the Premier League.
Talbi mostly plays on the right wing, but he could be just as effective on the left flank as he frequently cuts inside onto his favoured right foot anytime he lines up there.
The Black Cats have completed deals for Enzo Le Fee, Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki this summer.
However, they will need to make more high-quality signings if they want to impress in the Premier League and prevent an immediate return to the Championship.
