Sunderland are tracking Schalke midfielder Soufiane El-Faouzi, while Tottenham are assessing a summer move for goalkeeper Robin Roefs.
Sky Germany reports that Sunderland are among the clubs keen on El-Faouzi after his strong season in Germany. Brentford, Bologna and Celtic are also linked, with Rennes mentioned but not expected to be his next destination.
Schalke are said to want to keep the 23-year-old, valued at about €12m, around £10.5m. He is comfortable in Gelsenkirchen and a stay remains possible, with no concrete talks elsewhere as his focus stayed on the promotion push.
Football Insider reports Tottenham are considering a move for Roefs should they retain their Premier League status. Spurs are seeking a new first-choice goalkeeper, with Roefs added to a shortlist that has included Manchester City’s James Trafford and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen.
Sunderland are expected to resist approaches after Roefs’ outstanding debut season in England. The Dutchman joined from NEC Nijmegen last summer for about £11.5m and has quickly become a key figure under Régis Le Bris.
Football Insider previously reported that Sunderland would expect offers in excess of £50m for Roefs, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City also credited with interest in recent months.
