Sunderland’s January business is gathering pace, with the club exploring options for additions and possible exits ahead of the second half of the Premier League season.
Defender Arthur Masuaku is out with a short-term injury, but head coach Régis Le Bris has downplayed any impact on his future. “No, probably not. It’s a short-term injury, so it’s possible to imagine a future here or elsewhere,” he said.
AS Marca reports that Real Madrid have lodged a €20million offer, around £17million, for Youssef En-Nesyri, with Fenerbahçe said to want €30million, about £25.5million. The outlet names Napoli, Benfica, Juventus, Everton and Sunderland among admirers. The finances involved could make any move difficult.
Fabrizio Romano says Tammy Abraham has opened talks with Aston Villa, with personal terms not expected to be an issue. He adds Villa are pursuing a striker after Donyell Malen’s switch to AS Roma. No agreement has been reached, and Sunderland now appear outsiders.
Sunderland remain active across several positions as the window continues. Strong competition and rising fees underline the challenge as they attempt to strengthen the squad.
