Sunderland’s market value has risen markedly during their first season back in the Premier League, offering a clear snapshot of where the Black Cats sit among top-flight clubs. Here is how they compare with their rivals.
As reported by Sunderland Echo, the club this week confirmed a multi-million pound investment in the Stadium of Light and Academy of Light, including a new LED perimeter system, expanded corporate hospitality, pitch work at the academy and new technologies for youth preparation, performance and recovery. Black Cats House will be refurbished, and safe-standing areas at the stadium will be expanded.
That follows promotion via last season’s Championship play-off final win over Sheffield United, plus an ambitious summer window that underpinned an eye-catching return to the top flight. With Regis Le Bris preparing for the final fortnight, European football remains a long shot, yet the campaign has delivered lasting memories.
By valuation, Manchester City lead on €1.31bn, ahead of Arsenal on €1.23bn, Chelsea on €1.16bn and Liverpool on €1.02bn. Tottenham Hotspur are at €802.50m, Manchester United €747.15m and Newcastle United €708.25m.
Sunderland are placed 16th on €381.95m, just behind Fulham on €386.95m and ahead of West Ham United on €362.95m and Leeds United on €346.03m. Everton sit at €450.45m.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace are valued at €541.30m, with AFC Bournemouth at €507.10m, Brighton and Hove Albion €494.00m and Brentford €470.40m. Nottingham Forest are at €568.00m and Aston Villa €547.50m, while Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley are at €277.10m and €252.65m.
