Sunderland’s owners have reiterated their commitment amid sale speculation, while a reported decision on Lutsharel Geertruida and academy calls shape summer planning after Premier League safety.
Footbiz reported on Friday that potential investors had been told the club was available, with US bank Moelis said to be retained. The owners did not address every detail, but insist they remain fully committed and are planning strongly for next season.
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus holds 64 per cent, with Juan Sartori owning 36 per cent and sitting on the board. They control Sunderland via Mercator, and the club sits within their Bia Sports Group portfolio.
Sky Sports Germany reports the club will not take up their option to sign Geertruida from RB Leipzig this summer. The Netherlands international joined on loan last summer, with a clause believed around £20 million, reported at €23 million.
He has made 27 appearances and not nailed down a regular starting spot under Régis Le Bris. On Thursday Le Bris said it was still too early to decide, though the report adds he will not remain beyond the season.
Talks continue with Jack Whittaker over a new deal, while Dan Cameron and Jake Waters are expected to leave in June on free transfers. Hebburn Town, newly promoted to National League North, want Cameron and Waters and are keen on a loan return for goalkeeper Isaac Allan. Allan is under contract for next season, so any move would be temporary and could depend on Cameron’s situation, given both are goalkeepers.
