Sunderland set out membership scheme details and how ticket ballots will work

Sunderland have detailed how their new membership and ticket ballots will work after sales opened to supporters at 10am on Tuesday. Three tiers are on offer: Season Ticket Plus for existing season ticket holders, Black Cats Adult for non season ticket holders, and Black Cats Academy for children.

The club said in a Q&A that home tickets will be allocated via ballot to Black Cats Adult and Academy members first, with any remaining seats then sold to non members. Given last season’s demand, general sales may be rare.

Season ticket holders’ rights are unchanged. Membership is not linked to Europa League home access, and cup matches will follow the usual process with a priority window to secure seats.

Ballot entrants can list preferred areas or select no preference. Seats are automatically assigned in line with those choices, after which supporters must complete purchase to confirm the booking.

One membership equals one ticket. Groups can link accounts and apply together, and if adjoining seats are unavailable you can choose whether to proceed. Any U16 entry must be linked to an adult, with seat moves arranged if adjacency is missed.

For away fixtures, 10% of the allocation will go to a ballot, depending on the game, alongside the Black Cat Points scheme. The other 90% will be released across Phases one and two, with any leftovers moving to Phase three.
