Sunderland tried to sign Sporting Charleroi midfielder Yacine Titraoui last summer, with La Derniere Heure reporting their efforts were thwarted.

The Black Cats launched a bold rebuild after promotion to the Premier League, bringing in 14 players and spending in excess of £150 million.

Among the arrivals were Noah Sadiki from Union Saint-Gilloise, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most eye-catching midfield talents, and Chemsdine Talbi, signed from Club Brugge and already responsible for several standout moments this season.

Even so, a move to England could still be on the cards for Titraoui. The Algerian international has four goals and two assists from central midfield across 27 appearances in all competitions this season. He is understood to be represented by a major English agency, with a Premier League transfer continuing to be discussed.

Charleroi hope to secure a significant profit for the 22-year-old. They would not receive the full fee, as AC Paradou negotiated a substantial sell-on when the player moved from Algeria to Europe in 2024.
