Sunderland team news as Régis Le Bris names XI to face Liverpool in Nashville | OneFootball

Régis Le Bris has named a strong Sunderland XI to face Liverpool in Nashville on Sunday night, with Wilson Isidor, Dan Ballard and Romaine Mundle starting for the first time this pre-season.

According to Sunderland Echo, Isidor replaces Trey Ogunsuyi and Mundle comes in for Timur Tutierov. Ballard’s return shifts Nordi Mukiele to right back and sees Trai Hume reprise the right-wing role he ended last season in. Jocelin Ta Bi is absent from the tour after a visa rejection, with an appeal ongoing.

Brian Brobbey, Nilson Angulo, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Simon Adingra, Arthur Masuaku and Noah Sadiki will not feature in Nashville and are due to link up tomorrow as the tour moves on. Granit Xhaka, Chemsdine Talbi, Omar Alderete and Thomas Meunier are set to join later back on Wearside.

Sunderland have a 26-strong group in Nashville and a youthful XI is expected to feature at some stage in the second half. Kick-off is 11pm BST.

Andoni Iraola takes charge of his first Liverpool game tonight with a youthful side. Dominik Szoboszlai is on the bench and could get minutes, new signing Jérémy Jacquet is not involved, and former Sunderland academy midfielder James McConnell starts. Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili, Frimpong, Gomez, N’Diaye, Tsimikas, Jones, Elliott, McConnell, Ngumoha, Wright, Morrison.
