Sunderland team news as Régis Le Bris recalls Nordi Mukiele for Fulham | OneFootball

Régis Le Bris has recalled Nordi Mukiele to Sunderland’s starting XI for Sunday’s meeting with Fulham at the Stadium of Light.

According to Sunderland Echo, Mukiele is expected to play at centre back, with Luke O’Nien moving to the bench. Nilson Angulo keeps his place on the left, the only change after the defeat to Ipswich Town last Saturday.

Jules Ahoka could debut from the bench after replacing Jocelin Ta Bi in the matchday squad. Dayann Methalie cannot feature as he serves a one-game suspension carried over from the end of the Ligue 1 season with Toulouse.

Le Bris indicated pre-match that Omar Alderete was unlikely to start while he builds fitness, noting the defender had a different schedule around the World Cup and an early injury. He said Alderete is available but not yet at his best.

Trai Hume continues on the right, with Le Bris stressing his flexibility and the balance he brings alongside Nordi and Thomas. He highlighted Hume’s ability to drop when required and the strong understanding on that flank, while accepting there is room to improve.
