Sunderland’s reported move for Juventus midfielder Khéphren Thuram has been played down, with talk of interest, and of a midfield addition this summer, dismissed.
Calciomercato reports that Sunderland and Nottingham Forest requested information on the France international, with Juventus open to offers to raise funds. The outlet put his price at €35m-€40m, roughly £30.7m-£35.1m, and suggested a sale could generate €23m-€28m in capital gains, about £20.2m-£24.6m.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports said Thuram is not on Sunderland’s radar and there has been no contact with Juventus. The Frenchman has three years left on his deal and central midfield is not a target position.
That stance appears surprising given a heavier schedule ahead with domestic and European commitments, where extra midfield depth could help.
Calciomercato also claims Juventus need around €100m in capital gains by 30 June 2027, with Thuram among their most saleable assets, though manager Luciano Spalletti would prefer to keep him. The report said the club would rather cash in on Teun Koopmeiners, while Forest were among Premier League sides to seek financial details.
