Sunderland are being linked with a renewed move for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as the Foxes seek to raise funds at the end of the season.

Football Insider suggests the Black Cats are ready to reignite their pursuit in the close-season as Leicester attempt to reduce costs.

Leicester are said to be planning to cut their wage bill drastically, with Fatawu viewed as a leading candidate to be sold and the club open to a deal.

The winger is described as ready to step back into the Premier League and seen as better placed to make an impact than Sunderland’s current wide options. The report also indicates Romaine Mundle could be allowed to depart if Fatawu heads to Wearside.

Leicester posted a loss of £71.1m for 2024-25. The club’s financial statements indicated revenue growth outpaced cost increases, with staff costs at their lowest share of turnover since 2017-18.

They also highlighted that the timing of player-trading profits and the absence of non-recurring income influenced the result, and that improving the position over time remains a priority.
