According to Football Insider, Sunderland could reignite their pursuit of Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu in the summer window. The Ghana international is understood to have a £30m release clause.
The report adds that Fatawu is viewed as ready to step back into the Premier League and could offer more than Sunderland’s current wide options. It also suggests Romaine Mundle may be allowed to depart if a deal is struck.
It is further claimed Leicester are open to talks as they look to reduce costs.
New Leicester chief executive Kevin Davies recently said the club still have work to do to improve their financial position after relegation and a failed first attempt to return. He noted the underlying operating position improved year on year, with revenue rising faster than costs, and that staff costs as a share of turnover were at their lowest since 2017-18.
Davies added that the timing of player-trading profits and the absence of one-off income worsened the final result when compared with the prior year. Leicester posted a £71.1m loss for 2024-25, and he said building financial stability will continue to shape decisions.
