Sunderland could attempt to sign Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu this summer as the Foxes seek to raise funds, Football Insider reports.
Separately, Alan Nixon reports Leicester would accept around £20m despite a £30m release clause in Fatawu’s deal.
Leicester are understood to be planning significant wage reductions and could be open to a deal, with Fatawu among potential departures.
The winger is viewed as capable of stepping back into the Premier League and is considered a stronger option than Sunderland’s current wide players.
It is also suggested Sunderland could let Romaine Mundle leave if they succeed in landing Fatawu.
The speculation follows new Leicester chief executive Kevin Davies acknowledging the club have work to do to improve their finances after missing out on an immediate Premier League return.
