St Peter’s forms part of the Monkwearmouth-Jarrow monastery, founded in the seventh century. The site is closely associated with some of Britain’s earliest stained glass, dated to around 674 AD. That history has been suggested as a theme for the concept, with the strip itself to follow later.

Sunderland have already launched their home and away kits for 2026-27, leaving the third strip as the final piece. Monday’s event is expected to offer the first indication of what supporters can anticipate.
