Sunderland’s summer is already picking up pace, with exits and arrivals in play after they comfortably secured top-flight status. According to Sunderland Echo, activity around Robin Roefs, Frank Anguissa and Lutsharel Geertruida is shaping the agenda.
Geertruida is set to return to RB Leipzig after his loan, with Sunderland not expected to make the move permanent. Previous links to Liverpool, given Arne Slot’s past with him at Feyenoord, are being revisited, and Everton are also monitoring the defender, with scouts said to have watched him. Leipzig are believed to want more than £20m, and Everton could test that figure.
Sunderland have again been linked with Napoli midfielder Frank Anguissa, having been credited with interest in January. Areanapoli reports that, while no official price is set, Napoli are unlikely to sell for less than €20m, roughly £17.4m. Any move would be significant given his age, with the Cameroon international turning 31 later this year.
Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be monitoring goalkeeper Roefs after his standout debut season. The Sun claims the 23-year-old, signed from NEC Nijmegen last summer for an initial £9m, could command around £50m if Sunderland consider offers.
With loan decisions and key futures to resolve, Sunderland face a pivotal window as they plan for year two back in the Premier League.
