Sunderland return to Premier League action on Saturday night, hosting champions Arsenal at the Stadium of Light in their toughest test of the season so far.

According to Sunderland Echo, both Régis Le Bris and Mikel Arteta are managing absences ahead of kick-off. Ben White is available, despite coming off late in Arsenal's 1-0 Champions League win over Napoli this week, with Arteta later indicating there were no injury issues.

Habib Diarra is out after a hamstring injury sustained during a superb cameo against Fulham a fortnight ago. Le Bris said on Thursday he is around midway through his recovery, so he should be back next month, hopefully not long after the international break.

Jurrien Timber is a doubt. He has played only once since March, though he has trained recently and travelled to Naples in midweek. Arteta said his return is close, and it could come in the Carabao Cup next week.
