According to Sunderland Echo, the club will have a front-of-shirt sponsor in 2026-27 despite online claims the new home shirt would stay blank.
Sunderland launched their latest Hummel home kit on Tuesday with no branding on the chest. The clean look was praised by fans and sparked suggestions the Black Cats could go sponsorless all season.
The identity of the new partner is yet to be confirmed, and the club has indicated an announcement will follow in due course.
At the away kit launch, the club also said buyers before the reveal will be able to add the sponsor later. Details of that process will be set out once the partnership is unveiled.
The sponsor-free launch appears to reflect the timing of the agreement rather than an intention to play without a main partner. The announcement date remains unclear and the company has not surfaced publicly.
The deal arrives ahead of a significant campaign, with Sunderland in the Premier League and Europa League. Growing commercial income remains central to wider plans as Florent Ghisolfi and Régis Le Bris ready the squad for European demands.
