Sunderland Women face mixed contract news for 2026/27, with striker Eleanor Dale leaving after declining new terms while academy full-back Jessica Brown signs a one-year deal.

The club said in a statement that Dale has left upon the expiry of her contract, noting she joined from Everton in summer 2024 and made 37 appearances with 17 goals.

Dale hit prolific form in her first season on Wearside and was central to a strong mid-season spell. Injuries affected her most recent campaign and she struggled to replicate that output, though Sunderland had been keen to keep her.

Brown’s contract runs for one year. The academy graduate has committed to a further season at full-back.

Dale is among the few players offered fresh terms who are moving on, with Katie Kitching, Brianna Westrup and Natasha Fenton all extending. Summer recruitment will be led by Rehanne Skinner, appointed technical director by new owners Bay Collective earlier this week.
