Sunderland Won’t Have To Battle RB Leipzig For Winger Target | OneFootball

Sunderland and Hull City target Malick Fofana is not expected to join Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in the ongoing window unless something extraordinary happens.

The Black Cats have had a quiet transfer window, but they have now stepped ahead of the deadline.

Regis Le Bris wants to beef up his attacking options before the window closes and a winger is high on his agenda.

The Black Cats identified England international Jack Grealish as a suitable candidate but they received a blow in their pursuit of his signature, as the player wants to join Everton.

They have turned their attention to France and Lyon’s 21-year-old winger Fofana is another option but Sunderland face competition from fellow Premier League outfit Hull City.

The Tigers have already made a verbal offer of €35m, but Fofana has rejected an opportunity to play for the newly promoted side, boosting Sunderland’s hopes if they do push for his signature.

Fofana has other suitors in the market, with Italian giants Roma among them and he is also being chased by Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

However, Sunderland are set to face one fewer competitor in the hunt for Fofana’s signature as according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, a move to the German outfit this summer is not expected unless something extraordinary happens.

The new development will give further boost to Le Bris’ side but they have to find an agreement with Lyon regarding a move.

It is also not clear whether Fofana is interested in joining Sunderland and it has been suggested that his suitors Roma have already agreed personal terms with the player.

Sunderland could see departure from their attacking department with less than 48 hours remaining in the window, as Como are considering a surprise raid for Brian Brobbey.

Losing Brobbey would be a huge blow and Sunderland would be likely to resist it, but Como can offer Champions League football and are a rising force in Serie A.

Whatever happens, Le Bris will want to finish the window with a stronger squad than he went into it with.
