The FA has published data showing Sunderland spent £10,627,772 on agent fees between February 2025 and February 2026, a fivefold rise on their final Championship season total of £2,170,045.

The release covers the two transfer windows since promotion at Wembley, taking in a major summer rebuild and contract renewals agreed across the year.

Despite that outlay, Sunderland were among the lowest payers in the Premier League over the period. Burnley recorded the smallest total at £7,357,902, and Everton were the only other club below Sunderland on £9,990,374. Fellow promoted side Leeds United paid £13,990,935.

Several clubs around Sunderland in the table committed far higher sums, with Bournemouth on £20,883,523 and Brighton on £19,520,800. Newcastle United paid just over £20 million.

Chelsea led the division with £65,102,247, while the league’s collective spend reached £460,300,308 across the timeframe.

Sunderland’s figures also reflect 17 signings and fees linked to new deals for Trai Hume, Eliezer Mayenda, Luke O'Nien and Chris Rigg. The totals include any transaction involving an FA-registered agent.
