Sunderland discover their first European opponents since 1973 today as the Europa League league phase draw takes place, confirming eight opponents.

The ceremony starts at 12, a computerised draw with teams pulled from a hat, each club drawn against two opponents from each of the four pots, one home and one away. Sunderland are in Pot three after the play-offs were completed. UEFA has said the full fixture list will be published no later than Sunday, with only opponents named today.

The early stages will reveal Pot one and Pot two sides paired with Sunderland. Matchdays fall on September 16-17, October 15 and 22, November 5 and 26, December 10, January 21 and January 28.

Off the pitch, Wilson Isidor and Jenson Seelt agreed new deals on Thursday, with Seelt joining Swansea City on loan for the campaign. This morning Robin Roefs signed improved terms through to the summer of 2031.

Roefs said Sunderland felt like home and that last season’s seventh-place finish and European qualification were only the start, adding that he is focused on contributing to a bright future.
