Sunderland’s transfer drive is accelerating, with movement on Dayann Methalie and links to Ernest Poku, while Roma are assessing Simon Adingra.
Bild claims Sunderland are trying to lure Bayer Leverkusen’s Ernest Poku, who is close to leaving. Leverkusen would discuss a sale at about £21.4m, and the 22-year-old is tied down to 2030 after six goals and 10 assists last season.
La Gazzetta dello Sport and Leggo report Roma have shortlisted Adingra, with sporting director Tony D’Amico an admirer who views a deal as manageable. Sunderland are said to value the winger at about £30m, and he is under contract until 2030.
TEAMtalk separately notes several clubs have shown interest, but there has been no sign of a formal offer after his Monaco loan.
Sacha Tavolieri reports Sunderland’s latest bid for Toulouse left-back Methalie tops £21.4m including add-ons, with fresh talks expected. Toulouse are understood to be holding out for around £25.7m.
RMC Sport previously said an agreement on a five-year deal was in place with the 20-year-old, and L’Équipe reported negotiations continued after an opening £17m offer was rejected.
The Guardian added that Newcastle decided against a formal bid, and Aston Villa have enquired, leaving Sunderland well placed. Methalie can play left-back, wing-back or left centre-back, a priority since Dennis Cirkin’s exit.
Poku would bolster the wide options after Bertrand Traoré’s departure, though how advanced Sunderland’s interest is remains unclear.
