Mikael Mandron settled it in the 72nd minute with a close-range finish, giving St Mirren a 1-0 win over Livingston.
Brought on after the break, Mandron attacked Declan John's cross and steered in from inside the six-yard box (72.). The timing of his run split the back line and finally turned pressure into a lead.
He then drew a free kick on the left to pin Livingston back (80.). Moments later, he won another in the same channel (85.).
In the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, Mandron slipped Scott Tanser through, forcing Jérôme Prior into a low save. The substitute kept offering a target and link to runners until the final whistle.
The French forward finished with one key pass, won possession four times and took two aerial duels, underlining how his physical presence and smart movement swung the game St Mirren's way.
St Mirren host Kilmarnock next. Livingston welcome Celtic.
