Al Ahly overturned 1st half deficit to claim dramatic 2 - 1 win over arch rivals Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League derby on Monday night at Cairo International Stadium.
The White Knights took the lead in the 31 minute through defender Hossam Abdelmaguid who converted retaken penalty.
Earlier Abdallah El Said's initial attempt was saved by Mohamed El Shenawy but referee Cesar Soto Grado ordered replay after spotting encroachment from Ahly defenders.
Ahly interim coach Emad El Nahhas introduced Hussein El Shahat in the 69 minute and the winger made immediate impact.
Just 2 minute later, he equalised with powerful strike following neat exchange with Mohamed Sherif.
In the 78 minute, El Shahat won penalty after being fouled by Zamalek defender Mahmoud Bentayg. Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to hand Ahly the lead.
Zamalek nearly rescued point in stoppage time when Amr Nasser’s header struck the crossbar but Al Ahly held firm to secure the victory.
With the result, Al Ahly climb to 3rd on 15 point with game in hand while Zamalek remain top on 17 point after 9 round.
