Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough, and Millwall are all vying to win automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League alongside likely second-tier champions Coventry City.

Ipswich and Millwall played out a 1-1 draw with each other in their last game before the international break, whereas Boro were held to a 0-0 draw by Blackburn Rovers.

Kim Hellberg's men previously led Coventry in the Championship title race, but poor runs of form in both February and March have instead left them worried by the prospect of being overtaken by either the Tractor Boys or the Lions.

Boro and Millwall are set to meet in a mouthwatering clash on Good Friday, while the North East outfit also face Ipswich on April 19.

The Tractor Boys have a game in hand over both Middlesbrough and the Lions, which could prove crucial in the race for automatic promotion.

Ipswich's Kieran McKenna is arguably the best manager to have in their current scenario, too, having previously steered them to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.

However, Opta's predicted Championship table has tipped Boro to finish second, pipping both McKenna's men and Millwall to the prize of automatic promotion.

The predicted table expects Middlesbrough to win 83 points, which is 12 more than their current total of 71.

Meanwhile, Opta have tipped Ipswich and the Lions to earn another 13, and a further 11 points, respectively, which would see McKenna's men finish third, and Alex Neil's side secure fourth place.

Middlesbrough currently sit second in the Championship table, which is indicative that they have performed better than both Ipswich and Millwall for the majority of the campaign.

However, Boro haven't got the momentum at the moment, having failed to win any of their last three games heading into the international break.

Furthermore, that three-game winless streak came against Charlton Athletic, Bristol City, and Blackburn Rovers, who are all in the bottom half of the Championship table, and the Lancashire club are firmly in the relegation battle.

Ipswich have also failed to win three of their last five games, but they can be excused for drawing with Millwall, who are currently level on points with the Tractor Boys.

Meanwhile, the Lions have failed to win either of their last two fixtures, and were beaten 2-1 by Blackburn on 14 March, but they previously yielded three consecutive wins.

Boro endured a three-game winless streak in February before their current downturn in form, so the Riverside Stadium faithful will be surprised by the fact that their side are currently predicted to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League alongside Coventry City.

However, Hellberg's men will have full belief that they have what it takes to book their spot in next season's top flight if they beat Millwall on Good Friday.

Ipswich host Birmingham City on 3 April, and will be determined to capitalise on the fact that the Lions and Boro are facing each other on the same day.
