Antwerp were once again reliant on their French teenage striker George Ilenikhena making an impact off the bench at the weekend. The 17-year-old, who joined in the summer from Amiens, rescued a point against second place Anderlecht late on. After scoring last weekend against Cercle Brugge, Ilenikhena has come off the bench three times in the space of a week, scoring with all three appearances.
During the week he was the hero as the side beat Barcelona to ensure they did not end their Champions League campaign without picking up a single point. The young forward now has five goals in 16 matches but is yet to start a game. Ilenikhena only played 18 games for Amiens before catching the eye of Antwerp over the summer, with the young teenager scoring twice for the now Ligue 2 side.
Antwerp’s point means they are fourth in the league and remain five points behind Anderlecht. The gap to top side Union St Gilloise grew however after the other Brussels side beat KV Mechelen 1-0 at home.
