Supporters will be aware of the three home game ban issued to the Green Brigade this month following the assault of a steward and two police officers during an incident at the Falkirk game on October 29, which involved around 100 of the group’s members. This incident is the subject of an ongoing investigation.

The Green Brigade has written to the Club describing the incident as 'extremely minor'. As can be seen from the footage released by the Club, this is evidently wrong.

The conduct on October 29 followed a large organised pyrotechnic display and unauthorised access to parts of the stadium by members of the Green Brigade at the final game of last season. Despite implementation of the ban on November 7, the Green Brigade chose to ignore the sanction.

In light of the conduct of the Green Brigade, the Club has been contacted by the Safety Advisory Group for Glasgow City Council, and has been advised of their decision to hold a special meeting of the Safety Advisory Group on Thursday, November 20 to consider recent events.

The Safety Advisory Group is comprised of a number of public authorities and emergency services and is responsible for advising Glasgow City Council on the issuing of safety certificates at Celtic Park, and other grounds.

Any suggestion that this matter is motivated by the Club’s reaction to wider fan protests is completely misleading and disingenuous.

The Safety Advisory Group is an independent body, the meeting is not called by Celtic, but is one that we, as the organisation responsible for safety and security matters relating to our safety certificate, are required to attend.

The Green Brigade requested representation at the meeting of the SAG. The Club has been called to the meeting and cannot determine participants. Notwithstanding this, the request has been passed to the Safety Advisory Group.

These are clearly matters of significant concern to the Club. The Club has legal obligations with regard to the safety of supporters and everyone working at Celtic Park and wants to make all of its supporters aware of how seriously we must take this situation.

The rules which govern attendance at the Stadium apply to all supporters and are intended to ensure that Celtic Park is a safe environment for everyone.

Clearly, it is not acceptable for any group of supporters to indicate that they will not comply with those rules. The Club continuously reviews how best to manage safety and security at Celtic Park, and will of course work with the Safety Advisory Group in connection with these issues.

The Club is keen to find a solution to these issues so that the stadium is safe for all.

We will endeavour to communicate as early as possible on any further measures which may need to be introduced, which might impact supporters.
