The preseason tour in Asia allowed FC Barcelona to refresh and test their current squad. One of the great benefits of going on such a tour is that it allows the coach to identify and recognise special talents. Fortunately, Barcelona has no shortage of such players at the club.

However, even well-established players can find new strengths and catapult themselves to even greater heights. Following the conclusion of the preseason tour with the recent win over Daegu FC, there was one player in particular who stood out.

Gavi delivers the goals for Barcelona

Gavi, who must have seen this preseason tour as a chance to establish himself once again, completely exceeded expectations. In fact, as officially confirmed by FC Barcelona as well, he finished as the preseason tour’s top goalscorer with three goals to his name.

His first goal came against FC Seoul and included a brilliant turn and finish from the young midfielder. Then, in the recent game against Daegu FC, he scored two great goals as well that showcased his weak foot ability and his goalscoring instinct when he chipped the ball over the goalkeeper.

He also provided an assist to Andreas Christensen for his stunning strike in the previous game against FC Seoul as well. With such dominant performances allowing him to essentially become the surprise of the preseason tour so far given his goalscoring exploits, Gavi has even left behind the team’s top forwards and attacking players.
