Shortly after the official end of the transfer window in Germany, FC Bayern are set to make a move for Sacha Boey. As reported by FootMercato, the Munich club have agreed a loan deal with Galatasaray, with a purchase option included in the deal
The transfer is therefore imminent. The right-back’s medical examination is scheduled for today. If it goes according to plan, Boey will temporarily return to his former club, where he played before moving to Munich
The transfer is made possible by a special deadline situation: while the transfer window in Germany closed on 2 February, clubs in Turkey are still allowed to sign players. Galatasaray are now using this regulation to bring the 25-year-old back – with the approval of FC Bayern
The deal is a surprising but logical solution for the Munich club. Boey no longer played a sporting role and was internally considered a candidate for departure. However, a permanent sale was difficult to implement, mainly due to the financial framework conditions. As previously reported, the Frenchman had rejected several offers, as his salary at FC Bayern is comparatively high
The loan with an option to buy could open up new prospects for all sides. Galatasaray gets a player who knows the club and the environment very well. Boey gets the chance of regular playing time and a new start in the sport. And FC Bayern relieves its salary budget at least temporarily and at the same time preserves the possibility of finding a permanent solution in the summer

Whether the purchase option becomes binding now depends on Boey’s performance in Turkey, but one thing is clear: FC Bayern is making clever use of the extended transfer deadline in the Süper Lig – and thus ensuring an unexpected deal even after the deadline day.
