Following the conclusion of EURO 2024 on Sunday, many outlets selected a Team of the Tournament, such as this one.

But perhaps the most eagerly anticipated best XI was the official one selected by UEFA’s technical panel, and on Tuesday it was released.

Predictably, the XI is dominated by champions Spain, with Marc Cucurella, Rodri, FĂĄbian Ruiz, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal all making the cut.

Semi-finalists France had two representatives (Mike Maignan and William Saliba), while quarter-finalists Switzerland (Manuel Akanji) and Germany (Jamal Musiala) both had one each.

Beaten finalists England also had one name in the best XI. Was it John Stones? Jude Bellingham? Cole Palmer? No, it was Kyle Walker.

The 34-year-old Manchester City defender played every minute for the Three Lions at the tournament, but came in for criticism for his performances, with some fans and pundits even calling for him to retire from international football following the final.

What do you think of this XI? Who deserved to be in that wasn’t? Let us know in the comments.
