Surprise for everyone: Durban City FC re-signs a player who left them less than a month ago!
Apparently, the return to the Betway Premiership has given Durban City FC numerous options to bolster their attacking lineup for next season. Press reports have revealed that the club is considering re-signing striker Joslin Kamatuka to become one of the attacking options for next season.
It is worth noting that the Namibian striker had terminated his contract with the club, along with more than one other player.
However, his exit came as a huge surprise to many as the player had made a significant contribution to the club's promotion to the Premier League last season under coach Simo Dladla, who has since also left the club.
The Gavin Hunt-coached team has reinforced its attacking options with the return of the former Baroka FC striker to their ranks. Their transfer activity saw key acquisitions like Haashim Domingo, Thabo Nodada, and Darren Keet - all joining from recently relegated Cape Town City FC.
The club further strengthened its roster with eight additional signings: Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Bokang Mokwena, Jean Lwamba, Liam de Kock (on loan from Stellenbosch FC), Kyle Jurgens, Siphelele Mthembu, and Frederick Asare.
Several trialists including Thulani Hlatshwayo, Thabiso Kutumela, Somila Ntsundwana, and Craig Martin participated in preseason but ultimately didn't earn contracts. Hunt confirmed unsuccessful pursuits of Zakhele Lepasa and Lebohang Maboe, with both players declining moves.
The Durban side begins their league campaign August 10th with an away fixture against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium.
