SV Darmstadt in talks to sign young defender from Standard Liege

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Bundesliga 2 side SV Darmstadt are in talks with Standard Liege defender Lucas Noubi over a transfer to Germany. The defender is under contract until 2025 so could either leave for free at the end of the season or for a small fee in January. Cash strapped Standard could certainly do with the latter rather than allowing Noubi to leave for nothing at the end of the current season.

The 19-year-old defender came through the youth ranks at Standard, making his senior debut for the side during the 2021/2022 season. He has gone on to make 45 appearances for the senior side, with another 30 for the sides second team SL16. The Belgian youth international has rarely featured for the senior side this season, making just two appearances for Ivan Leko’s team. Injuries have not helped the situation.

Transfermarkt value the teenager at around €2.5m. Darmstadt are currently 10th in the German second tier, having been relegated from the Bundesliga last season.
