Swansea City's Zan Viptonik has been in fine form and could bring huge financial benefits for the club in the future

Slovenian striker Zan Vipotnik has been in fine form this season and could land Swansea City a healthy cash windfall if he continues in the same vein.

For Swansea City, it's been a somewhat mediocre season for them so far, with 16 points on the board after 12 games played, and sitting comfortably in mid-table.

Consistency has been the missing piece of the puzzle for Alan Sheehan's side this season, with the Swans failing to string together back-to-back wins in the league since the back end of last season where they enjoyed a five-game win streak.

With their overall performances struggling to really strike hope into their fans that they can mount a real challenge for the play-off spots come the end of the season, one man who is giving the fans a glimmer of hope in achieving that feat is the Slovenian striker Zan Vipotnik.

The 23-year-old has been their standout in the early stages of the season and if he continues to fire on all cylinders, it wouldn't come as a surprise if clubs come sniffing for his transfer come January or failing that, next summer.

Zan Vipotnik could earn Swansea City a huge return on their investment

After making the move to South Wales from French side Bordeaux as a free agent at the start of last season, the Slovenian international's first season in the Championship was steady, to say the least, as Vipotnik found the net seven times in 42 league appearances.

However, fast-forward to now and the 2025/26 season seems to be his breakout year, having settled into life in the EFL. The striker has merely played 11 league games this season, and has almost matched his tally from last campaign with six goals and one assist to this point.

Despite only being 23 years of age, Vipotnik has already shown his eye for goal across Europe, first in his native homeland with Maribor. The 2022/23 season was his best to date where he scored 20 goals in 30 games, and followed that up in France a year later with Bordeaux as he hit double digits again.

Although he failed to make it three years on the bounce for double figures, he sure looks set to achieve that, if luck is on his side in terms of injuries. If he is to do so, Swansea could be in luck to earn a pretty penny from his transfer.

With it being up for debate whether he was good enough to lead the lead heading into his second season in the Championship, Vipotnik has silenced the doubters and now looks like one of the most exciting prospects in the division.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, it wouldn't come as a surprise if top Championship clubs monitored his progress if he keeps banging in the goals for the Swans, and even European clubs too, as we have seen with other Championship talents like Gus Hamer and Milan Van Ewijk who have received plenty of interest from overseas.

Zan Vipotnik cannot stop scoring for Swansea City

It's become clear that attacking returns have not been a luxury for the Swans so far this season, as they currently average one goal per game. With Vipotnik very much being their talisman, exactly 50% of their league goals this season have been scored by the Slovenian.

This highlights the sheer impact that he has on the forward line and without him, Swansea City could well struggle. If he were to leave the club for a hefty price tag, the financial benefits that his transfer would bring would give the club a huge boost. However, finding his replacement could prove to be tricky, especially after receiving his services for a grand total of £0 over a year ago.

Vipotnik has had some standout performances this season which have made him a real force to be reckoned with. A goal and assist in their 0-2 away win against Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday at the end of August sparked his season to life, and things have got better and better for him, as shown by his brace against Norwich to give the Swans all three points in a narrow 2-1.

If the Swans are able to keep their main man until the end of the season, his price tag will be determined if he can continue scoring goals from now until May. If that is the case, then not only will Swansea be in a solid position heading into next season, but the money earned off of his sale could build a well-rounded team to make them real promotion contenders next season.

Obviously, Vipotnik's form will determine his market value, but focusing on the here and now, if he is to kick on in his early career, then scoring goals is what will make the Slovenian earn a move to make the step to the next level.
