Playmaker Just is going into the final year of his contract but Motherwell has an option to extend it for another 12 months, and Swansea head coach Vitor Matos has now made the New Zealand World Cup stand-out a top summer priority.
Swansea have wasted no time, and have already declared their interest to Just and his camp, and according to the Daily Record, have ramped up their interest over the past 48 hours as they bid to strengthen their squad for the upcoming English Championship campaign.

The Welsh side are aware of the significant interest in the 26 year old, due to his impressive showings for his county at the World Cup, and despite the All Whites crashing out in the group stages, Just impressed, scoring three goals in as many games.
Due to this interest, Swansea are getting ready to pounce and cut a quick deal for the player who scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 30 Scottish Premiership appearances last season.
Celtic of course are one of the clubs whom have been said to hold a series interest in the Kiwi wide man, as well as French side Toulouse, who are managed by Just’s former manager Jens Berthel Askou. However Michael Nicholson is content to monitor the situation to avoid having to deal with another troublesome agent.
So it now looks like we could be losing out on another rumoured transfer target, after the earlier news that Kelechi Iheanacho had signed for Bursaspor and Marcelo Saracchi gave up all hope of getting a Return to Paradise, as Michael Nicholson keeps the proposed £1.5m transfer fee in the PLC account.
Michael Nicholson has claimed we can’t compete with English Championship sides when it comes to signing players, perhaps that was a warning that the Motherwell winger is now outwith our financial boundaries. This all in a week that we also discovered that we can’t compete with second tier sides from Turkey.
I’ll guess we’ll find out for ourselves in the coming days where Elijah Just will be playing his football next season. Although Just would be a brilliant signing for Celtic we know it’s never going to happen.
