England will play Croatia at the venue on Wednesday evening UK time.

The police presence was prompted by what an officer at the scene described as a “pretty serious” incident, with a weapon reportedly brandished by a suspect.

Police snipers, an armoured BearCat vehicle and police drones were used at the scene, with a large number of officers sent to the area.

A spokeswoman for the Arlington Police Department said the force were responding to a domestic dispute between a male and female at their home address.

She added: “The female resident was barricaded inside the home with additional occupants.

“The report shows that a weapon was produced but no injuries were reported. The suspect is now in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”

There is no indication the incident was connected to the World Cup or posed any threat to the tournament or its venues.

The Three Lions begin their Group L campaign against Croatia in Arlington on Wednesday.

After three pre-tournament warm-up matches in Miami, England have arrived at their training base in Kansas City, Missouri, though preparations for the showpiece event has been rocky.
