Switzerland have flagged a snake risk around their World Cup training base in San Diego, after the national team posted a graphic on Instagram indicating a red-hatched snake zone encircling the site.
The image maps the base with a training pitch, a dedicated goalkeepers’ area, a dressing room and a gym, with the surrounding perimeter marked as a snake zone.
The camp sits in Carmel Valley, a part of San Diego known for its reptiles, including many rattlesnakes.
Switzerland are in California preparing for the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.
They are due to open against Qatar on Saturday at 21:00, then face Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 June at 21:00, before meeting Canada on 24 June at 21:00.
