Monza are looking around for the right replacement for Michele Di Gregorio and have set their sights on veteran Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
The Bianconeri snapped up the talented Italian shot stopper at the start of this month in a deal worth around €18m total, adding an important reinforcement to Thiago Motta’s squad. With Mattia Perin set to stay, the Polish veteran has found himself surplus to requirements.
Juventus tried to ship Szczesny out to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr interested, but terms couldn’t be agreed, and the deal ultimately collapsed, leaving the Polish veteran in Turin. Cristiano Giuntoli is still keen to offload him in the coming weeks.
Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW details how Monza director Adriano Galliani is dreaming of snapping up Szczesny from Juventus to replace Di Gregorio, hoping to take advantage of the lack of suitors for the veteran goalkeeper.
The Biancorossi are also evaluating a number of alternatives including Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini, Hellas Verona’s Lorenzo Montipo and Sampdoria’s Emil Audero.
