Take Kubo and Luka Sucic will not feature in Real Sociedad’s pre-season matches against Wolves on Saturday and Aston Villa on Tuesday. Both arrived back in Zubieta this week and have travelled with the squad, but the staff have opted not to use them yet.

According to Diario Vasco, the pair will work individually on the match days, then join group sessions on Sunday and Monday to build fitness.

Kubo injured his left knee in his nation’s opening World Cup match and is already back on the ball. His return should not be far away, although it remains to be seen whether he features against Toulouse in Tarbes next Friday.

Sucic will play in that Toulouse friendly after taking part normally at the World Cup. The Croatian went out early and had a limited role for his national team.

Real Sociedad do not plan to sign a replacement for Brais Méndez. The club believe Sucic is ready to step up in the attacking midfield role and increase his importance this season.
